Judi Fuchs, Photographer
Judi Fuchs hails from New York and is a graduate of the School of Visual
arts with a degree in cartooning. She began her career in photography at
Norcross Greeting Cards and while teaching special education, continued
to pursue photography as a hobby. Digital photography has allowed her to
further develop her passion for creating images of natural settings, animal
life, and flowers. She has lived in Bonita Springs over the past 18 years,
providing ample opportunity for her to capture the textures and colors of
Southwest Florida with her unique eye.
Her intent is to express the wonders and beauty of nature that exist in the
local environment. she is fascinated with the textures and colors that
surround us. She tries to enhance her photographs with different techniques by using
her computer to capture different visual effects. She hopes to continue to grow her talents so that she can best create appreciation of the world around us.
Francine Gerson, Fused Glass Artist
Francine Gerson has tried to allow her world travels to stimulate her glass pieces. She visualizes how a finished piece will look with the light from the front and from behind. She starts by placing pieces of iridescent or colored glass on a base backing. Then she adds glass from the same color family or contrasting glass. Francine then rotates her creation throughout the process so she can see it from different directions. Then she fires her piece once or twice in the kiln to get the desired effect and shape.
Francine’s art training started early at the Cleveland Museum of Art and the Cleveland Art Institute. She started her stained glass training at the Standing Rock Studios in Kent, OH. After moving to Florida in 2005, Francine took classes in fused glass at the Center of the Arts of Bonita Springs. She found this medium of working with glass to be what she was looking for. She continued training in Bonita and the Cape Coral Art Studio before she ventured out on her own.
Francine’s commissions include creating the League of Environmental Education Vision Award presented to Clyde Butcher and the annual Academy of Geriatric Emergency Medicine Awards for outstanding achievement.
